Harry Potter Fans: Order Butterbeer and Pumpkin Juice at Starbucks!

That’s right everyone, you read that correctly! You can get a taste of those classic Harry Potter beverages without going all the way to Hogsmeade (or Orlando, for that matter)! After making a post to Facebook yesterday about hot butterbeer arriving at Universal’s Harry Potter World, I realized something spectacular, and I truly have no explanation of how I could have forgotten about it but… I’ve had hot butterbeer before, last year at Starbucks! A friend of mine was a Starbucks barista at the time, and she is the one that told me about a very special secret– The Starbucks Secret menu! I know, isn’t today an amazing day?! Anyway, it turns out that the Starbucks Secret Menu has two Harry Potter drinks available– butterbeer (either frozen or hot) and pumpkin juice. While you may be able to order them by name at a well established urban-based Starbucks’, it’s best to be prepared to give them the recipe the first few times. So here are the recipes:

Harry Potter’s Hot Butterbeer Latte:

  • Whole milk steamer
  • Add Caramel syrup (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)
  • Add Toffee nut syrup (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)
  • Add Cinnamon Dolce syrup  (2 for tall, 3 for grande, 4 for venti)
  • Whipped cream and salted caramel bits on top (or creme brulee topping if you prefer)
  • Optional if you prefer to add a coffee taste: Add a shot of espresso (2 for a grande or venti)

Harry Potter’s Butterbeer Frappuccino:

  • Ask for a Creme Frappuccino base. Don’t skimp on the fat by asking for skim or 2% milk as whole milk is required for the right consistency
  • Add 3 pumps of caramel syrup
  • Add 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup
  • Top with caramel drizzle

Harry Potter’s Pumpkin Juice:

  • Pumpkin Spice Sauce (1.5 pumps for a tall, 2 grande, 3 venti)
  • Apple Juice to the top line
  • Fill the rest of the cup with ice

I can vouch for the Hot Butterbeer Latte. It tastes very Butterbeer-ish! (Too be clear, it doesn’t taste like the Universal Studios butter beer, but I can definitely imagine myself at the Hogshead as I sink slowly into Harry Potter fantasies.) I haven’t tried the other two yet, but how can you go wrong with all of that sugar? 😉 I know! I just totally made your day, didn’t I? Let me know what you think!
